Hello Leadership Atchison. My name is Goldie Boldridge-Brown. I was born and raised in Atchison on a farm about 5 miles south of Atchison. I graduated from St. Pat's grade school, Atchison High School and Washburn University in Topeka. Following graduation from college, I worked at the University of Kansas while my husband attended graduate school. To begin our careers, we relocated to the Chicago area where I continued my graduate studies and worked as a high school teacher and school administrator in Chicago suburban school districts. I recently relocated back to Atchison following my retirement as an educator.

I'm hoping this class will give me the opportunity to renew my acquaintance with Atchison, to better understand how various agencies and city/county governments provide leadership to the community, and to become involved in helping the community improve and become a better place for all its citizens.

I envision leadership as a transformational process that brings change to a community through a shared vision, a core set of values, empowerment and community participation. Effective leadership is doing the right thing (morally and ethically) for the benefit of all.
