POSTING CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK
Class, you challenge this week is to develop ideas about what the team project should be this term! Rather than create entire new discussions, please post your ideas here AS REPLIES TO THIS MESSAGE rather than as completely new conferences!

In my high school, all the students get out of school one day in the spring for Community Day. On this day all the students would clean up the Hanover area. This included picking up trash around town, painting things in need of painting, cleaning business windows, etc. I think this is a great way to get the students involved in the community. So I was thinking that we could have a Community Day for either BC or the Atchison high schools where the students could go around and clean up parts of the town and help the businesses. (I am not sure if this already happens.)
I think the team project should be to create a "Taste of BC" day for the town in the same spirit of the "Taste of Atchison". Have one day where the school sets up various stations down the main mall where families can come and do various activities.
You can have different sports teams do athletic challenges. The art department could do a face-painting station. Maybe we could get the caf to bring some caf food to atchison so they know what we eat. Then maybe we could have different clubs and organizations set up booths as well. I think this would be a great way to integrate the students with the town, which would also have a positive effect on the families of Atchison.
Over the years Leadership Atchison has done many projects. I think they were all great for the time, but it is time to have a lasting impact on the commuity through one of these projects. I think all the postings are on track and would be great for the community of Atchison. The Leadershp Atchison class of 2000 did a day dedicated to "Unity in the Community" and I know they had a great day. It is finding out why there is a seperation of community that is important. You can have one great day, but we need one great community. I only have one idea for a project and that is SPIRT day. We are currently working on this through the leadership coucil because we need Chamber board approval. I think this day will have the biggest impact. I charge the class to find something that lasts and that will impact the community.
I am really excited to see what we can do with the ideas that we have come up. I think it would be great to be able to fix up some houses with a little paint and some landscape. This will only be the beginning of what Atchison can truly look like.
